Marine Tours signs the Neptune Declaration on Seafarers Wellbeing & Crew Change

We are proud to announce that Marine Tours is a signatory of the Neptune Declaration on Seafarers Wellbeing and Crew Change, an initiative that was developed by the Maritime Industry Crew Change Taskforce and has been joined till now, by over 550 companies across the world.

The Neptune Declaration, signed by Marine Tours, is a worldwide call to action to end the unprecedented crew change crisis, caused by Covid-19, and to ensure that the rights of the frontline workers of global supply chains are respected.

More specifically, the declaration urges the implementation of four main actions to address the crisis:

  • Recognize seafarers as key workers and give them priority access to COVID-19 vaccines
  • Establish and implement gold standard health protocols based on existing best practice
  • Increase collaboration between ship operators and charterers to facilitate crew changes
  • Ensure airline connectivity between key maritime hubs for seafarers

The Declaration is a strong message and a step forward, where the whole Maritime Industry unites together to put an end to this humanitarian crisis and to support our Seafarers who enable the ‘world to move’. Recognizing our essential role in the crew change chain, we feel proud to actively support this global effort and we encourage everyone to contribute to this important cause” states Konstantinos Oikonomou, CEO of Marine Tours.

As a travel organization that remains at the forefront of crew travel and repatriation “missions”, Marine Tours joins forces with the industry leaders in order to resolve the crew change crisis, committed to remain always next to the seafarers and the shipping companies, in these turbulent times.
