As of May 1st, 2024, Marine Tours becomes the first travel management organisation in Greece to receive the Emission Mitigation Certificate from the Lufthansa Group, joining forces with the leading airline partner in purchasing Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) for business flights.
To achieve CO2-neutral aviation, developing and using Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) is crucial. SAF refers to aviation fuels produced without fossil energy sources. The most commonly used SAF is made from biogenic residues, such as used cooking fats and industrial waste, ensuring that its production does not compete with food production.
