The Slide2Open Shipping Finance 2024 Conference took place on January 24th, for the 7th consecutive year at the Megaron Athens Concert Hall.

The Conference addressed the critical theme “Turning Motion into Action – Reestablishing Shipping’s Momentum’’, in the presence of the Minister of Shipping and Island Policy, Mr. Christos Stylianidis, paving the way for constructive discussions as the Shipping Industry swiftly transitions from a prolonged period of discourse on environmental matters, new technologies and trade requirements, to a stage marked by urgent milestones and deadlines.

More than 400 representatives of the political, business, academic, and research world participated in this great initiative, while 30,000 online viewers from 130 countries had the chance to engage with the content and discussions.

Within this framework, the Conference was only one part of the actions and projects carried out, with the participation of scientists, technicians and representatives of the shipping community and the Ministry.

Mr. Konstantinos Oikonomou, CEO of Marine Tours, among other distinguished speakers, joined the discussions on the critical issue of “Shipping and the Human Element – Lost Cause or Hope on the Horizon?” underlining, the importance of the “door- to- deck”-and vice versa- journey and its contribution to the seafarer’s wellbeing and job satisfaction.
