The Conference titled “Trends in Crew Management” aims to inform and update Shipping Executives on the contemporary trends of the human resources management, as well as cultivate the exchange of views and ideas with regard to the particular challenges in the constantly changing Shipping industry.

Some of the most recognized speakers, both domestically and internationally will be accommodated by the 3rd Maritime Trends Conference.

More specifically, Mr. Nikos PanagiotopoulosManaging Director at Barry Rogliano Salles (BRS), will elaborate on the current issues with regard to the freight and dry cargo market in his lecture entitled“Outlook for the Tanker and Dry Bulk Markets” while MrTheodore Chouliaras,President of the Shipping Finance Consultants UPMARITIME LONDON Ltd., at his speech entitled “Shipping Cycles & Access to the 2016 sources of Shipping Finance“, will present his own perspective concerning contemporary trends and developments on the financing of the global shipping.

Matters of the outmost importance for international shipping, such as epidemics, wars and the main issue of the energy footprint, will be developed through the lectures “War, Piracy and Disease: Legal and Practical issues of trading in complex environments” by Mr. Stephen AskinsTatham-Macinnes LLP, “Health Care Onboard: Prevention and timely assistance practices” byMrs. Vivian Andria, Managing Director at Med Solutions International and“Positive actions for a sustainable maritime environment” by MrsHelena Athoussaki, Chief Strategist and CEO IMAREM, respectively.

The representative of Etihad Airways, Mr. David Granville, Sales Opportunities Manager, will deposit his valuable experience regarding the achievement of excellent customer service in the lecture “Flying Reimagined”.

The participants will also have the opportunity to listen to MrPhil Parry, Chairman of Spinnaker Global Ltd, analyze on the influence of alternative tools and techniques on motivating crews, in his speech “Crew Motivation: The Money Myth and Quality Shipping”.

The distinguished scientist and director of the Graduate Program of the University of Piraeus, Dr.Eleftherios Thalassinos, will analyze the importance of education and especially of the Graduate studies in building and strengthening a career during his speech entitled “Graduate studies in Shipping and Professional Development”.

The conference will conclude with the speech titled Facing intangible problems: The case of Crew Cost & Psychological problems on board” by the experienced professional in crew management Mr.Dimitrios Spyropoulos, Captain (Eng) HN (Ret), who will develop the interesting issue of handling crew psychological issues –and its respective costs – on board.

It should be noted that the participation in the Conference is offered free of charge (prior registration is required) and one of the participant companies will have the opportunity to win a scholarship to the University of Piraeus postgraduate program “MSc in Shipping”.
